justinp Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Any tips on a cheap and easy fix? Thanks Quote
climbsonrocks Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Cheap: Shoo Goo Parsimonious: hot glue BTW: (even though I hate to say it and you hate to hear it) I am new here. climbsonrocks Quote
catbirdseat Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 I don't recommend hot glue because it will likely leave marks on the rock. I remember my Dad forbade us from wearing our New Balance on the boat if they had hot glue repairs, which was pretty common in those days when we were on the cross country team. Quote
denalidave Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 It's not that expensive to have them fixed by a good re-soler. Maybe it's time to resole them anyway? Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Thank you for including graph paper in the photo so we can see the scale. Quote

And I don't recommend shoe goo cause I remember this one time my awesomely-endowed midget lover orangutan left sneaker marks all over the back deck. Quote
Argus Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Barge cement, but that looks like a candidate for resole with rand repair. Quote
Winter Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 They make some kind of black goo for water sports - I forget what its called, but it works really well for this purposes. The best fix is getting them resoled and then stop dragging your toe. Quote
dan_forester Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 what this board needs is more Cobra Commander. I've tried Barge cement for a similar (poor-climbing-style-induced) tear on my old shoes. that didn't work so well. another thing that didn't work so well was duct tape over the toe. what did work pretty well was getting them resoled. justinp Posted October 23, 2008 Author Posted October 23, 2008 Poor climbing style aside, any beta on a local resoler. Quote
denalidave Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 I just sent my mythos to these guys - Yosemite Bum Resol Linky - and they did a great job for a reasonable price. Half soles & rand replaced for $45 but you have to pay for shipping as well. It's best to replace the whole rand vs just patching it as the patch will usually come off again. Might as well get it done right the first time and get a little longer use out of the re-sole job (IMHO). Quote
