tvashtarkatena Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 (edited) It's been an entertaining campaign season, thanks in no small part to John McCain and Sarah Palin and their kin. With the election this deep in the bag, we're now relegated to waiting a couple of uneventful weeks until the GOP is nuked from orbit, drowned in a shallow sea of insecticide, then bulldozed into an oceanic trench where they will subsequently be re-melted into the Earth's mantle. No doubt the Party of Reagan will occasionally resurface like a pustule to infect whatever it can get its brainstem controlled paws on (Dino Rossi, anyone?), but by then its busted ideologies will have tectonically slumped far to the left, it's abstinance-slave relationship with the Christ Cults will have cracked and frayed in the sunshine of Reason and Necessity, and it's lifeblood of funding will have been shunted to the new elite. Rove's permanent Republican majority, engineered at the expense of representative democracy, has gone the way of the 1000 year Reich and other such megalomaniacal pipe dreams. The GOP since Reagan has been a fantasy-based luxury; a wealth siphoning device we never could afford. It can't keep itself fed in a time of scarcity. Reality and the power of the vote threw too many wrenches into the machine, which was designed with a fatal flaw to begin with; it was built only to destroy, and, in the end, it performed that task on itself. tvashtarkatena Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 Resource scarcity is finally forcing America, kicking and screaming, into the Modern Age. We'll be less wealthy, more dependent on each other, and happier for it. Quote
rob Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I thought an anti-climax was when you're making sexy time with a lady and then your mom calls. Quote
