chesterboo Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Thinking about heading in and doing the east ridge of north peak. Has anybody looked at the snow lately heading up to gain the east ridge. Should we bring axes? Quote
Maxtrax Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Just climbed the east ridge and south ridge/face yesterday. There were pockets of snow above the lake but kicking steps in my trail runners was just fine. I had two light weight trekking poles with me, no ice axe needed. Quote
chesterboo Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 Yeah, I ended up just going up the south peak yesterday as my partner wussed out because he thought he might get misted on. I agree that axe was not necessary. The gully up to the east ridge did still look snow filled and from where I stood, I would have taken an axe but Max was there in the gully and I was not. Quote
Ned_Flanders Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Chester, I met you in the parking lot yesterday and I headed up the east ridge. No ice axe is needed, although I used two pieces of choss to help just in case. -Joshua Quote
