TimL Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I know it's a bit early, but I thought I'd get the thread started. Anyone hear anything on the Bugs yet? Quote
darb Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 It's a late spring, I came out on Saturday. Still snow on most climbs. Did the Archduk Trio though. Quote
glassgowkiss Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 my friends from calgary climbed there last week. looks like nice weather and dry rock Quote
giza Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 From MCR Digest, Vol 40, Issue 26 (18 July 2008) Recent reports from the Bugaboos are that the Bugaboo-Snowpatch col is in good snow conditions but there is starting to be a visible sag in the bergschrund. Many routes are getting climbed but expect to still find snow and/or water in gullies or chimneys that are shaded. Quote
snoboy Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Friends just returned from a week in the Adamants, and reported too much snow in some places. Quote
counterfeitfake Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I just returned from the Bugaboos and they are in great condition. B-S col is still mostly filled in, the 'schrund is just starting to open. The glaciers are mostly covered with no crevasses showing. Most routes seem to be free of snow. The weather was nice for 3 days in a row. Go get it! Quote
skyclimb Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 We were also there for the 3 day weather window!!! The day before that 3 inches of snow fell at applebee camp, and about 6 inches around the howsers and pigeon. The col was cruiser...no need for crampons or axes, however it was rapidly deteriorating, and small bits of gray ice were starting to show at the top of the col...the shrund' was also quickly beginning to open as said before. All the trade routes seemed good to go as evidenced by the traffic....there were some large cornices on the summit ridge of south howser...so that could be time consuming. Hope this helps Counterfeit...were you staying at applebee? Quote
counterfeitfake Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 No, we stayed in the hut because we are SOFTMEN. Although that extra 45 minutes of approach every day was an ass-kicker. I might think about tenting it next time. Quote
