jjd Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 How can anyone that think that Exxon winning this case is a good thing???? Because this case dealt with punitive damages, not actual damages. It's important for people to recover their actual damages and also some degree of pure "punishment" for doing something heinous. The problem was with the magnitude of the punitive damages in relation to actual damages - over 10 times is pretty ridiculous. Suffering damages should result in compensation, not a winning lottery ticket. Quote
