Keith_Henson Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 (edited) I have a permit for next wednesday to camp at the lake and will climb it on thursday, weather permitting. Previous post indicated that crampons were needed in the early morning... Edited June 14, 2008 by Keith_Henson Quote
Bishopp66 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I'm going up tonight, hitting the Alpine start tomorrow, and will attempt Colchuck and Dragon Tail on Saturday. Planning Prussic on Sunday, with maybe a stop on Cannon if time permits on the way back. I'll let you know what we encounter... (keeping my fingers crossed for a 4-fer!) Quote
Sol Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 there's a bit of fresh snow up there, but nothing too much, and its starting to consolidate well. Quote
spotly Posted June 15, 2008 Author Posted June 15, 2008 Decided to slog up Fortune Peak today instead. Looking forward to your TR though. Quote
Fairweather Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Climbed Colchuck yesterday. Conditions are perfect. Trail to the lake is snow free and the glacier is not showing any bare ice. Quote
EC_O Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Yeah, snow was down to about 3500 feet and still a good amt of snow up high. Was up there this afternoon and there's a great boot pack in. Crampons are helpful though. Quote
Bishopp66 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 We were using crampons in the mornings and post holeing in the afternoons. Insane weather thought... Quote
