Todd Morrison Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Took a trip down to the south sister this past weekend; had to leave the car at the bachelor lodge. Very long hike in for a weekend trip. If you are looking for an easy weekend, better wait about 3 more weeks. FYI, for the sake of climbing team work Quote
111 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 talked to bend fort rock ranger station today. They said barring any more major snow, it will be plowed by next weekend. Quote
jrussell Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 they said the cascade lakes hwy would be open? seems like they usually plow from the south into elk lake. I can't remember the road heading south from bachelor opening before late May early June even in a bad snow year which this has definitely not been. just curious as it would be sweet to have access this early. KingsMM Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I would be very interested in this early opening too. Can anyone confirm? Quote
jlag Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I call bullshit on that, it's never opened that early. The local paper is saying that both entities are outta $$ and wondering who's gonna pay for the plowing. But we can dream. Quote
111 Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Thats just what the desk ladies said. Apparently they try and open it by the time fishing season opens. Wishful thinking on my part maybe. (I secretly wanted to sand bag a couple people into a 23 miler S Sister excursion from bachy parkinglot...) Quote
jlag Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 She's talking about clearing it coming from the South. They cleared it to Wickiup Res. for fishing season. JL Quote
