Friday, February 08 - 11:47:57 AM News1130 Staff VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Good news for people planning on driving up to the Interior this weekend. Susan Williams with the Ministry of Transportation says the Trans-Canada has now been re-opened between Hope and Boston Bar, after crews successfully cleaned up a small avalanche. However, the Coquihalla is still closed between Hope and Merritt. "They've cleared the avalanche that originally closed [the highway]. Now they need to go in and do some avalanche control." That could take quite some time. Williams says drivers don't have to be worried about avalanches as long as they have good winter tires and stay aware of the conditions. Quote
ClimbingPanther Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 well, now that snoqualmie, stevens, and white are all closed, trans-washington travel just got a little more interesting. anyone got a snowmobile I can borrow? my horizon flight is refundable! Quote
ClimbingPanther Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 ooh, maybe someone could invent a new computer game, akin to "frogger," where a car tries to cross the state while avoiding avalanches Quote
G-spotter Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 As long as you have good winter tires you'll be fine. Oh wait - no one in WA has winter tires. Quote
archenemy Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 non-winter tires actually set off avalanches. Quote
