goldenchild Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Not sure which thread to post this question. Gear or Freshiezone. Anyways.... I'm 5'10" 175 lbs, beginner/intermediate telemarker. Recommended length for new telemark skis? I'm looking at G3 Barons or using my old Rossignol B2. What do you guys think about those skis for telemarking? Quote
BackCountryPunk Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I picked up a pair of G3 Barons early this season, @ 184cm. I'm the same height & weight as you. They were an upgrade from my tiny Volkls, and what an amazing upgrade it was. Might want to go for the next size down (what is it, 177?) for a little bit smaller turns. Super fun ski. Quote
PaulB Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 G3's sizing recommendations would put you on either 177 or 184 Barons. I tend to prefer a shorter ski, but a lot depends on your style of skiing. If you can, demo both sizes and see how they feel. FYI, G3 is having a factory sale this week and as of yesterday morning they had 177 Barons for $300. You'd have to call or email them to see if they have any 184s. Quote
shapp Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Unless you are a total badass super-G mofo, with new wider skis (say in the 115 to 126 mm shovel width)you should go with a ski that is shorter than you would get for an older ski. something from 170 to upper less than 180 for your size. With a really fat ski >125mm at shovel you could go even a bit shorter for BC turns. Quote
Hugh Conway Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 trick question. There are no correct tele-skis. Quote
