rbwen Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 We're having a ski stoke party and wanted to show some cool Tele movies (or cool alpine movies, NOT Warren Miller types). Any suggestions? Thanks! rbwen Quote
Farrgo Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I would definately recommend against the unparalleled series unless you like watching people not land jumps and ski tracked up 20 degree snow. Quote
Hugh Conway Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 The FreeRadicals series of movies are good, and $25 for 3 - "White Trash" is a fabvorite. http://www.skiswede.com/ They have a few good teleskiiers in them (such as Frode Gronvold) Quote
emsung Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 what about powderwhore 05 and 06? was there an 07? missed it if there was Quote
E-rock Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Try this: eH5-sAE9UjE Not a tele movie, but who cares, tele movies are made by a bunch of sanctimonious hippies who use bad music. Quote
PaulB Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Check out "Sinners" by Bill Heath (apologies if that's what E-rock suggested, YouTube is blocked here at the office) and I've heard good things about his new flick "Nine Winters Old". Quote
Kit Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 (edited) Anyone know where I could get a copy of "Sinners"? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Best ski film I've seen, far and away. Edited December 11, 2007 by Kit Quote

"Snow Falling on Sinners" was distributed by www.bhandf.com you could e-mail Bill, or I might be able to burn you a copy Quote
rbwen Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 Haven't shown anything yet. Party's on Friday. Hard to get some of those flicks over here in the sticks... Quote
pindude Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Actual tele movies are few and far between, but for the most recently produced tele flicks you can't beat the Howell bros' Powderwhore series. They ain't "sanctimonious hippies" and PW06 is already a classic. You can order here, and coming from SLC you should receive by Friday. There's also Nils Larsen's 3 videos, of which Big Mountain Little Skier is my fav. You can order all 3 on one DVD here. Don't know when you'd get it or where exactly it ships from, but Nils lives not far away near Curlew. Sinners isn't tele-specific and appeals to all skiers, but anything Bill Heath does is exceptional. His latest, Nine Winters, appeals to an even wider audience. E-Rock's trailer is for Poor Boyz' Ski Porn. Hopefully that one has more than all the park jibbin' they show on the trailer. I haven't seen PW05 (yes, there is a PW07, which I've seen along with the Unparalleled series), but I'd put PW06 and Big Mountain Little Skier up there as the top 2 tele-specific movies made to date. Kit Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Cool. Thanks HC. I emailed Bill. Will report on availability. Quote
Kit Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 (edited) Yup, its still available if you email BHandF, mine's on the way! Got it... watched it again... still the best ski film ever. If you haven't seen it, you should try! Edited January 18, 2008 by Kit Quote

It doesn't seem to be accessible from the main site. At only $25, support the independent filmmaker rather than burn a copy. Edited January 22, 2008 by PaulB Quote

emsung Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 What's cool about the Powderwhore series is that it's all done by the power of the human leg, all skinning, no heli or cat trips... Quote
