chrisr Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 (edited) Trip: leavenworth - no idea Date: 11/25/2007 Trip Report: Anyone ever seen or climbed this? You take off from bridgecreek campground, cross the creek, head off on that road to the right after the bridge for about 15-20 minutes and then head up through the thicket into a draw another 10-15 minutes. It's about 50m of WI2. It then rambles up for quite a ways but we turned around after about 200-300m. Judging by the map it would be about a half mile past Hubba Hubba but lower on the hillside in an obscure draw. The route was pretty fun (considering we weren't expecting to find anything). Pretty good ice actually. There is another short 20 foot step beyond what you can see in the picture. Gear Notes: brought the gear but soloed it. Edited November 26, 2007 by chrisr Quote
high_on_rock Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Score! Nice find, I may try to see if I can locate it. You say you walked up the road for 15-20, was it then visible from the road? Quote
chrisr Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 (edited) you can see it from the main road if you go about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile past bridge creek. You can see the bottom part of it through the brush. It looks a lot steeper from the road. When you start walking on the gated dirt road just after the bridge, go until it dead ends and start traversing up through the crappy thick brush. You can't really see it until you're on it. It took about 30 minutes from the car. If you go, take the time to head all the way up the drainage to see if there's anything else. I'm curious to see if we missed out on anything good. chrisr Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 yeah, not a bad find. Anyone ever see this in the past. I'm itching to name something and proclaim it mine (and Bob's)... Even if it is WI2. Quote
Alex Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Bunch of parties showed up and climbed this yesterday, as it was pretty much the only climbable ice in the Icicle. Its difficult calling this 50m *of climbing*, but if you are desperate to swing a tool have at 'er. Quote
chrisr Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 I'm terrible at judging distance, especially since we didn't use a rope. oh well... Quote
FBCC Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 We were one of those parties there yesterday I checked the map and there is no name for the drainage/creek it is on the approach path we took was clumbsy at best bush wacking our way over there. Alex maybe we should name it for future references "nothing else in falls" "december 1 falls" "desparate for ice falls" LOL Quote

catbirdseat Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Bunch of parties showed up and climbed this yesterday, as it was pretty much the only climbable ice in the Icicle. Its difficult calling this 50m *of climbing*, but if you are desperate to swing a tool have at 'er. We heard that there was a dozen people swarming that thing so we didn't even go there. Got a report from J. Street that Hubba Hubba isn't formed up, either. We hiked up the road along Mountaineer Creek and saw nothing. We continued on up and hiked part of the way to Eightmile Lake for exercise. Quote
