Bug Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I went to a garage sale yesterday and picked up a pair of Koflach Degre's for $1. I also got a Grivel ice ax for $1. Neither one of them has any sign that they were ever used. Now that's a Christmas special for my daughter. Quote
Dechristo Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Your gonna give her a deal at $100 for both? Quote
Dechristo Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Of course, you know it was two Scots that invented copper wire... ...they each had hold on a penny. Quote
Bug Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Aye laddybuck, an e still on't make a long distance call on it. Quote
Frikadeller Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 They where probably stolen out of some poor slob's car that was parked somewhere in SE Portland a few weeks ago... And you find it at a yard sale for a buck... Speaking of car burglaries, some moron broke into my work van and stole my company nextel, and my PRESCRIPTION sunglasses. Sure, take the useless stuff mister, and ignore the $1000's worth of pipe fitting tools and HVAC instruments in the back... The dufus will most likely sell it some dude for a buck at a yard sale... EWolfe Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 You need to get out of the city, Dude. The bastards are grinding you down. Good find, Bug! Quote
Bug Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 Nope. These folks were Microsoft with $ to burn. I get that you are just venting and your luck is a bummer. But as a note to all, definately pay attention to who you are buying from. If they can't tell you what it is used for, give em shit. Quote
Frikadeller Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 (edited) You need to get out of the city, Dude. The bastards are grinding you down. They are, and have been trying to grind me, but I will not allow them to gain the upper hand. I will always be a city boy... Good thing I also have the "hills"... Frikadeller Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Nope. These folks were Microsoft with $ to burn. I can always appreciate people with money to burn. I like to reap their leftovers. I get that you are just venting and your luck is a bummer. Yeah, I feel better now. But as a note to all, definately pay attention to who you are buying from. If they can't tell you what it is used for, give em shit. This sounds like good advise. I have used this train of thought at yard sales when I see specialized tools that are not common for homeowners to own. (Me:"sir, could you tell me more about this Promax refigerant recovery machine" Them:" Is that what that is??") I never see climbing stuff though. Maybe I am going to the wrong yard sales. Quote
