Fairweather Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Amazing. A good book on this marathon and related Mt. Baker history is "Koma Kulshan" by John C. Miles (Mountaineer Books). It's out of print, but I have a copy you can borrow if you like. Not quite as good as A. Haines' Mountain Fever, but very entertaining. Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Nice, whatever happened to the good 'ol days when sitting in a train getting a massage was still a part of the race! Quote
letsroll Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 The hardman days. Train derailed, Flagged down car, thrown over horse, passed out twice. Talk about adventure. Not to mention the train, car start to the race. Sound like good times:) Quote
Couloir Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Nice! Thanks for the link Norman. BTW I still have your PM flagged. I'll give you a shout next time I'm in the mood for some punishment. Quote
Norman_Clyde Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 I'll give you a shout next time I'm in the mood for some punishment. I was just down in PDX to carry my masochism to new heights . I should have called you. Despite the flat terrain, I encountered some highs and lows-- and I learned that where masochism is concerned, I am but an amateur. Quote
