layton Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Anyone know a good program (for PC) that can convert a DVD to an avi file for video editing? I've got some slideshows I put on dvd and want to edit/combine them. Quote
JayB Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Digital Media Converter. Use it all the time for converting between formats. http://www.deskshare.com/dmc.aspx Quote
layton Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 looks sweet. know of any free ones? Quote
JayB Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Nope. Looked all over the place for freeware before giving up and spending the dough. If you can figure out how to upload the files to a file sharing service, and send me your account info, I could probably convert them for you and send them back over the said service. You'd probably have to figure out how to break your files into 100mB chunks in order for that to work, though. Quote
layton Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 i'd rather pay 40 bucks than do that! but thanks for the offer and tip on not being able to find any freeware. does it also convert to apple ipod? Quote
layton Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 nevermind that... how do you know what files to select? i've got a whole bunch of VTS_01_0 - VTS_01_4 all about one gig each Quote
Bigtree Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 ...know of any free ones? Do a search for "Digital Media Converter" here: http://www.torrentspy.com/ There is a very good chance that you'll find a 2.7 ver with password that works fine not that I would really have any reason to know this. dmuja Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Windows Media Player plays DVD files doesn't it? Cant you just choose "save as" an avi using the media player panel? Maybe not? Coarse you will only end up with the "inferior" DVD quality show as opposed to true avi files -which are much sharper when played on a computer. Quote
