northwest Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Is it essential to own a snowmobile to access good backcountry skiing around Mazama/Winthrop? It seems like most approaches are long, true/not true? Quote
hefeweizen Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Or do this... Sorry, I couldn't resist. Friends of mine who live in the Methow say the preferred method is in fact a snow-mo, or a loooong walk. Quote
AlpineK Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Hmmm is there a company with a snowmobile and a rope that could give you a tow in? Quote
rbw1966 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 There are some tours you can do through there without a snowmachine but the good stuff is most readily accessed via snowmachine. I can't remember the stuff we did but if you go to the store in Mazama they can give you some beta. What we did was ok for a workout but not terribly interesting for the work involved. Quote
