goldenchild Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Can anyone update me on road conditions going into the Mt Sampson on Hurley Road? Any updates compared to directions given in the Alpine Selects book. Any current trip reports would be great. Thinking about it this wknd, but a bit nervous. Quote
jmace Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 I belive the bridge has been pulled once off the hurley.I dont have the book so Icant look up the road on bivouac. But its a much longer walk if your thinking about the ice route Quote
fishstick Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 From what I gather, the bridge crossing the Hurley (immediately after pulling off the main road) is out. Mtn bikes or walking is necessary. I'm unsure what the water level is like at that crossing... Given high levels of snow pack and temps of 36C in Pemberton, the Hurley might be running high. Check Matt Gunn's site and/or his scramble guide to SW BC. Cheers, GB Quote
jordop Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Bridge is definitely gone, but road beyond is in good enough shape for mtn biking, no bush or alder or anything. It's Donelly Creek that the bridge spans, and it should be okay to cross with some wading. A few years back the govt changed the official spelling of the peak to Sampson; apparently the map is in error. Quote

gertlush Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 We tried to get into Overseer 2 weeks back & Meager Creek was more like Meager raging river. Quote
