Trip: The Brothers - South Couloir

Trip Report:

Had a blast on the Brothers for cinco de mayo, even drank snow margaritas on the summit! Snow starts at the climbers camp and the fire that burned last year affects the climbers trail a little but we stayed on the avalance gully and it was fine.

 

This was the view from the summit when we first arrived...

 

But the clouds parted for our decent thankfully:

 

If you ski the hourglass feature on the way down its a really plumb ski line. Straight from the summit all the way down to the valley.

Looks like a good job. Is the "South" couloir the standard ascent?

Also, do you know anything about skiing the humongous east snowfield? How to access, whether you can get at it from the summit, etc.? I can see it from my house on Hood Canal and would love to lay tracks on it some day.

This seems to be the only TR I've come across where the party skied. Is there a reason why more parties don't ski The Brothers? Even TAY lacks Brothers TRs. This year seems like it would be a good one for this route. Any beta on a ski descent would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't see why it wouldn't be a good ski in stable avy conditions. Until the Valley of Silent Men melts out the approach could be a bit of work but still doable.

Cool - thanks. Kind of what I figured but I was shocked by the serious lack of TRs of descents w/ skis for such a popular mountain.
