Hi

Looking for feedback on orthopedic surgeons. My local (Tacoma) orthopedic surgeon says that I need a hip replacement, if I want to do more then walk on the flatland for short distances.... I am looking to get a second opinion. If anyone knows of a Tacoma/Seattle area orthopedic surgeon that has been helpful in returning folks to skiing, hiking, climbing, etc, I would appreciate their name.

Thanks

Pete

I had extreme pelvic surgery. I had one of the best surgeons in the world. Where most surgeons do about 200 pelvic surgeries in their life, he has done 1000's. He said from a scale of 1-10 of pelvic injuries mine was a 9 & he fixed me up very well. I guess people fly in from surrounding states and Alaska to have him work on them. He is at Harborview, I'll pm you. You are in luck.

Don't know if they do routine hip replacements at Harborview for non-trauma situations, but I can tell you this about Harborview: I was treated for a hip fracture at Harborview in 4/06 and had the hardware removed two weeks ago. The Harborview "Green Team" did a very good job with both surgeries and the follow-up care. Same goes for the work done by their "Blue Team" in 2004-2005 for a different injury. I've been operated on by at least six of their attending surgeons, at one time or an other -- all were excellent.

If Harborview won't take your case, you might go see Bob Winquist at Orthopedic Physician Associates in Seattle. He has a very good reputation.
