TrogdortheBurninator Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 On the NE couloir (not NBC) on colchuck, has anyone climbed the right hand finish (looks like rocky mixed ground) instead of the more standard lefthand finish? Everyone I know that has climbed the route has done the left finish. Right finish looks cool and direct. Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 (edited) i.e straight up in this photo instead of branching left at the hidden fork. Edited April 14, 2007 by TrogdortheBurninator Quote
DPS Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Alex, Matt Perkins and I tried the right hand finish. There was a chockstone that we were unable to tunnel under so we downclimbed and took the left hand finish. http://www.mountainwerks.org/alexk/climb/TRNEButtressCouloir.htm Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 THanks Dan, did it seem like the kind of thing that would go with proper conditions (less snow or more ice), or was it basically a dead end. Quote
DPS Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I think it would go. As I recall the climbing was not too difficult, but it was a tight squeeze behind the chockstone, all on rock with good features. A lean guy like you should be able to do it. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 (edited) You can't quite see into the beginning of the Right hand couloir, but here are some recent shots. Left image is contast/sharpness enhance, right hand photo is a raw image. Taken six days ago. Edited April 16, 2007 by tvashtarkatena Quote
