BubbaD Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 I'm looking for feedback from anyone with experience using the 2R series tents, good or bad, here in the PNW. The specs sure read right but do they hold up in the field? Any tips on keeping condensation down? Thanks. Quote

mneagle Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 I have a 2R with sidewindows and large door. I took it to Bolivia and it stood up well to strong winds and was super light to bring on bivies. On nights when there was a good breeze, the vents worked well and I got no condensation. On still nights the endliners were coated with ice. The middle section stayed pretty much condensation free. I used it the last 4 nights in Leavenworth where it was pretty dry and I kept the side windows open with no condensation even though I woke up sweating in my down bag. I haven't used it in a NW downpour yet, but so far it's one of my favorite pieces of gear. Quote
cmonster Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 i've been using a 2R for about 3 years. it rocks! the only problem i've had is that it is sometimes too hot. if i had it to do over again, i'd get the side windows to help on the warmer nights. other than that, you can't go wrong. Quote
allthumbs Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 Don't know about that particular model of tent but check out Stephenson's NUDE website @ www.warmlite.com Quote
EV Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 I don't have one, but someone mentioned that the floors were pretty slippery and they had to put down dots of seam seal on the floor to prevent slippage. Quote
jblakley Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 Prevent slippage? What the hell were they doing in there? LOL Quote
Sean_Halling Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 Only used one once here in the NW...but used one in Alaska. Got a lot of condensation on each end. Can't beat the weight or ease of staking it out though. I'm thinking of getting a 3R for winter use...the 2R was too cramped for two on a long trip. Quote
