I have a fabulous pair of Authier skis that were lovingly built with a thin wood layer on top. Even though they are new, they do look like an old school pair of sticks. Folks who don't recognize the name will ask me where I got these old suckers. I just tell 'em I found them in my dad's garage and thought I'd see if they still worked.

It's interesting how far back some ski tech goes. Metal edges, shaped, ridge topped, laminated skis (bakelite or ash tops, hickory bottoms) date back to the 20s. I'd love to get my hands on some bakelite topped skis.

Mmmmmmmmmmm. Baaaakkkkeeeliiiiite.

Remember the days when you could really slam a telephone down when you needed to? Or pull it off the wall, drop it 20 stories, relent, then go down, pick it up, and just plug it back in?
