Trip Report:

Here are a few pictures from a hike on St Helens on 3/17/07. The weather was great and the mountain had many climbers.

We spent 7 hours climbing up and turned back 800' shy of the summit due to equipment failure. The snow on the ride out was wet and slow but still a great deal of fun.

 

 

Gear Notes:

I was up there on Sat camping at Timberline with the intent of a climb Sun a.m. Nice afternoon lounging until the rain started at 5pm Sat and did not stop by the time I was back at the car Sun a.m.

the hiking looks fun, if not a bit sloggish.

We started from the Marble Mountain sno park at 7am. We drove in from Portland Friday night and camped there.

A couple of us went up Sunday. The weather was not quite as nice. The theme was "skinning in the rain". However, don't wait for the Broadway musical.

 

We broke through the clouds around 8K. The skiing down was pretty good top to bottom. Crowds were non-existant.

Nice - St. Helens is such a great mountain to ski/board off. Way to get after it!
