catbirdseat Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 (edited) It's too bad Rainy Pass isn't around anymore. We could have a North Cascades Bluegrass festival. The Mandolin player, John Tubbs, is now with a new band called Down the Road. They are playing in George on Saint Patrick's Day. One could spend the day climbing at the Coulee and catch Bluegrass in the evening. Edited March 8, 2007 by catbirdseat
Tony_Bentley Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 Yeah Rainy Pass was a great band. The fiddler was Paul Elliot who is one of the best fiddlers around these parts and is recognized as an excellent teacher these days. Gary and Cathy Davidson are also part of Down The Road. If you ever have stopped in at Dusty Strings in Fremont, look for the short guy with a big beard. That guy is responsible for getting me into Bluegrass. Peter Cunningham's birthday was last Saturday and Gary and Cathy stopped in to pick a few tunes. They were playing Carter Family songs and blending sweet harmonies. The house is going to be packed tonight. Come early for a premium seats and bring a few for some good wine and the tip jar. If you're into a little more campfire music just listen for the mandolin at the Coulee campgrounds tomorrow night.
