TrogdortheBurninator Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I'm selling my van to buy something smaller. I don't use it anywhere near enough. It is far from perfect, but it gets the job done and it is damn comfy (as those who've slept in it can attest). $2500 obo http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/268015792.html Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 Pretty low. I haven't really taken the time to check on a long flat drive. The previous owner said they got ~18mpg driving to california. I doubt if I've ever gotten better than 14mpg, and I'm sure some trips it has been worse. Quote
kurthicks Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 bummer. i want one, but can't justify that low mpg. Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 That is basically where I am at. I think you'd need to take multiple long (week+) trips a year to make it worthwhile. Either that or live close to a crag you want to camp at. It sure is comfy though. Quote
Bug Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I have that van with a 305 in it. I don't know what it was getting before I bought it but I replaced all the ignition stuff, spark plugs, wires etc and put the tallest tires I could get on the rear. I get 18-19 highway. It is an automatic. I had a 1960 Ford Falcon van that got 14 mpg when I was in MT decades ago. I put a 289 from a Maverick in it and got taller rims and the tallest tires all around. It got 27 highway fully loaded with gear and four climbers. It was a 3 speed manual. If I could find a manual transmission for this GMC I would consider it. But they also have a major transmission cooling system that would have to be plugged off. Detroit has no interest in producing high mpg cars. It isn't rocket science. You can do it in your back yard. Just get the right oomph to gear ratio. Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 Hey Kurt, you could buy it and pay bug to tune it for you!! Quote
Z-Man Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I've slept in this a few times, it's super comfy, especially when you're cragging where there's snow on the ground. I don't think the warmth can be gauranteed without Trogdor to share the bed with though. Quote
Bug Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Hey Kurt, you could buy it and pay bug to tune it for you!! I'm cheap and my time isn't. But I can tell you what to do. Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 I dropped the price down to $2000 and will still take it offers. Quote
