Lyn Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Mount St. Helens, Washington is "steaming" right now, perhaps preparing for an eruption. Here is a link to the web cam. The photo updates about every 5 minutes, but if you refresh you sometimes get a new photo sooner. Mount St. Helens webcam: http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/ Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Since when was St. Helens in Oregon. Quote
Alasdair Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 It is not preparing for an eruption. It is erupting and has been for over a year. Quote
Alasdair Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 The only reason you are seeing steam is because there is curretnly cold dry air sitting over the mountains, and it is no more active than it was last week. Quote
sk Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 it is more freaky when st.helens stops steaming... that means she's planning something. Quote
KitCatherine Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 It was mentioned on CNN and MSNBC today as yet another reason "climbers" should be wary since they are seeing Mt. St. Helens having "plumes" today. Mountains are active volcanos. Yadda yadda yadda. All that normal jazz. Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Why is this in the Oregon Cascades Forum?? Did St Helens put up a steamy haze screen and dissappear and reappear next to one of the Sisters or something. Quote

Wow climbing is really dangerous. I am staying away from volcanos from now on. Thanks CNN. Quote
