Jerome
I'm thinking of climbing Jefferson this weekend, 27th-28th. Has anyone done this recently or in this time frame? Any thoughts, pertinent advice, etc.? I'm primarily interested in the prefered way up the summit block, and which glacier (Jefferson Park/Whitewater) is generally better. Thanks! In the meantime I'll relish this wee little tire I'm putting on and keep playing mule. To pop this back to front, anyone yet with ideas on Jefferson? Nasty? Scary? Should I Bosch the summit pinnacle, or just go straight to via ferrata? Jerome
ruddersbox
leave the Bosch and ski the N. MilkCreek gully but watch for the right exit about 1000 ft down and to the right, then link some deep knee bends all the way to the PCT.
Crackbolter
Jerome, Do you bend your knees? I thought you flipped a switch! You liar, you just act like an alpine skiier and really you are a tele freak! Okay, no boom boom tonight! At least, not until you put those alpine planks back on. Guest
This is Gaper_#1, I have seen alpinist Jerome he moves fast. Very fast. I cannot move that fast. I have respect, hopefully he comes to the bolt war thread and speaks sense though......... That is the true test. Gaper_#1 Has spoken. Winter
I'm headed to Jefferson Park Glacier this weekend. I'll buy someone a pitcher if they have any good info on current conditions.
CascadeClimber
Great route. Climbed it last year in late May. Is the road open yet? Might want to call the Detroit (Oregon) Ranger station for some beta.
Winter
Yeah, it sounds like they have been pretty slow getting the road cleared this year. I think we're looking at an approach of about 6 miles to Whitewater Creek ... we'll probably take three days.
