fear_and_greed Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 The comprehensive spy report by the National Intelligence Estimate, a consensus view of 16 separate spy agencies including the CIA concluded the U.S. invasion of Iraq helped create a new generation of Islamic radicals and increased the global terrorism threat. Retired military officers were blunt at Senate Democratic hearings Monday, saying Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has bungled the war and misled Americans. This was apparent some time ago. The BuShites says it ain't so. I think they've galvinized a worldwide islamic movement against the USA and its allies. Witness Bali, London, Madrid. I also think the next generation of Isalmic fascists(GWB words)will be brought up on steady diet of anti USA preaching and American interests worldwide will be targets. Again all this is old news but for them to think other wise is naive. What's BuSh waiting for, the # of dead from the Iraq war to equal 9/11? Quote
Jim Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 They have painted themselves in a corner with their rhetoric, starting with "War on Terror". Idiots. They are not very sophisticated in world affairs. Why weren't more troops devoted to Afganistan instead of the current half-hearted effort? Obviously because they were planning for Iraq. Now the Taliban is on the rise with poppy production and the government is not functional outside of Kabul. And if Iraq was such a threat, similar to Nazi Germanay, why didn't we impose a draft and expect similar national sacrafice such as a tax to pay for all this? We're stretched, the terrorists know it, and we haven't sufficient forces in either country. Bush will stay the course through his term - which means doing nothing. The next president, Republican or Democrat, will be forced to explain that we have done the best we can (like a bull in a china shop) and withdraw. Quote
olyclimber Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 the # of US Service people killed in action just recently passed the number of people killed on 9/11 in the past couple of days Quote
tivoli_mike Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 why didn't we impose a draft and expect similar national sacrafice such as a tax to pay for all this? why do a draft when you can backdoor it with the guard/reserves. As for a tax, I think the repubs are going to be talking about medicaid/medicare cuts in the future as we should all "need to make sacrifices"... Quote
fear_and_greed Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 I thought it was getting close but not past yet. It is a tragic, disgusting and useless number. Quote
