Bears have great natural crampons (Eldorado)

While climbing Eldorado yesterday (we were looking for ice on the NE face of the top), we crossed fresh looking bear tracks on the southern portion of the Inspiration Glacier. In itself, we thought it was pretty cool to see bear tracks this high up on the glacier. While paused for a break to enjoy the views, we spotted the bear playing on the northern portion of the glacier, just south of the Tepeh Towers and probably over half a mile from us. It looked to be just running around and sliding on the snow & ice... it was so far away it was hard to tell what exactly he was doing, but when he trotted you can tell it was the bear. When he got close to a crevasse, he just used his built in crampons and trucked around it. Wish I was that agile on glaciers.

Check out these alpine bears near the top of Three Fingers a couple weeks ago! A mom and two cubs. That is some steep shit. No running belay at all

They actually did scare away 7 goats that were on the snowfield moments before.

 

The bears headed over right to the green, heather and bluberry field and parked it there for awhile...blueberries sweeter than goat

My pop and I saw two bears on our recient trip up to Goat Flats.

Pretty cool to see bears, but I was hoping for a sasquach.

I saw two bears a little over a week ago when I was climbing sahale.

Great photos - and I just missed a bear on Sahale Arm on Saturday (he left very clear, fresh tracks in the snow).
