klenke Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 I'm curious about this little peak in the north end of the park (on Northern Loop Trail; SE of Windy Gap). Anyone out there seen it up close or climbed it? I might like to attempt Redstone Peak this fall or winter, but it's 6 miles of trail then 1 mile off-trail to get to it, so don't know if it's worth it this time of year. Quote
Kupaki Posted November 1, 2002 Posted November 1, 2002 I haven't climbed it but according to the beckey book, and looking from Independence Ridge, it is minor rock scramble. The book concurs with what others have stated about the approach, which is from behind the ranger cabin the peak isn't too far of a climb. You can also access the trail to Redstone Peak from FS 74. You should be able to get a map from Enumclaw. This shortcut will make it about 2-3 miles from the car to the cabin and then to the peak from there. Sorry I don't about what type of rock it is. Quote
chilly Posted November 2, 2002 Posted November 2, 2002 Kupaki, go back to your hole...........and eat some Quote
remlec Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Not much of an event in itself. Suggest doing it in summer and combine with Sluiskin Chief then scramble down the ridge to Redstone, an easy scramble. It's Rainier, rock almost always sucks. Quote
