Frikadeller Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I have been seeing these "lanes" at the top of the palmer ski area. I have asked several people on the mountain, and no one has an answer... Every time I see them (and they keep "making" new one} I wonder, WTF would you need this shit for... Perhaps some of you oh, so enlightened ones could explain... (I have seen a few trip reports where people camped in them, butthey are at 20Deg of slope. That cant be fun sleeping in...) Quote
letsroll Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Not sure what the "lane" part is all about, but I have seen them take the snow from those lanes and push it onto the Palmer snowfield. I would not camp in those. Quote
Rodney_Sofich Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I believe T-line is farming the snow for the ski camps. They have a permit for use up to 9200 feet? They probably have not used this resource before because they never needed the snow but I guess now they do. Quote
Frikadeller Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 Farming snow? I guess that makes sense. I noticed that they where builiding one heck of a terrain park lower on down .... Quote
cj001f Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 lanes are assigned to various groups (eg race camps, mogul camps, freestyle/park camps) who use timberline in the summertime for their exclusive use - those features in the picture are above the top of the lift? that's snow farming - the lane is downslope. the public lane is immediate skiiers left of the chair; their's usually a whiteboard at the palmer exit giving the key to who has what lane/lanes Quote
