sobo Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I'm not sure what the threshold is (6mm?) but my Jumars hold better on thinner rope than my Tibloc. Tiblocs are designed for cords of 8 mm to 11 mm (inclusive) in diameter, according to the literature included with the device. It is also inscribed upon the device itself (at least mine is). According to the source linked in my previous post, Jumars are designed to operate on cords of between 6 mm and 14 mm (inclusive) in diameter. This could explain why your Jumars hold better on thinner ropes. Quote
kenp Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 hey thanks couloir & sobo, I didn't jug on the rope but I thought it looked like it would bite good enough. I don't mind the extra weight of the jumar versus a prusik, and the handle makes for a much easier extraction out of a hole. Quote
snoboy Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Try 1/2" tie off webbing, it grips well and is strongish. Quote
