Couloir Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 On Saturday, a bear was spotted high on the Ingraham Glacier. Unroped and without an ax... Quote
mtn_mouse Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Oh, I thought this was about a bare, like the bare naked climber on Everest thread. Quote
MountaingirlBC Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 holy! I double checked to make sure this wasn't in Spray before I clicked on it. What a dumbass. Hopefully his close call will shake up his climbing philosophies and make him a safer climber. Quote
G-spotter Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Can you believe it? http://www.mountrainierclimbing.blogspot.com/ Its a good thing it hadn't crossbred with a polar bear because an all white bear would be a deadly hunter in a whiteout. However, bears are scared of smoke so it would probably be safe to hide in Muir Hut. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 some idiots are going to follow the bear tracks thinking it is the dc route and wand the shit out of it. Quote
Kraken Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Cool to finally see a picture of that. I'd heard about it while at Muir that day. I've heard of bears being spotted at elevations up to 14,000 or so on Denali as well... Quote
Couloir Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I've heard of bears being spotted at elevations up to 14,000 or so on Denali as well... And badgers at Crater Rock on Hood ~20 years ago. Quote
Duchess Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I saw a marmot at 13,500' on the Kautz Glacier in '00. He didn't look like he was feeling well, just kept walking in circles near a big crevasse. Quote
