Mount Baker - Coleman route

I was hoping to do the Coleman Glacier on Mount Baker next weekend, does anyone know if the road to get there is even open?

we're supposed to get 50cm of fresh overnight above 4000' on a hard crust , with high avvy hazard.

I think he means that it is never gated. Whether or not you can drive all the way up is another matter. They do not plow it.

Last weekend we were able to drive 10.6km to 3012ft up the road to Heliotrope Ridge. That's about 2.5km from the TH. But all this new white stuff and lower freezing levels has probably buggered everything up. And like it's already been pointed out... 2 feet of fresh powder sitting on top of a skating rink is a bad thing so I wouldn't be going anywhere near there for a while.

Snow level dropped to 500 feet for a time this afternoon. Accumulations above 1000 feet.

Yeah, watching the snowfall I've put off the trip for another couple of weeks. 2.5 miles from the trailhead isn't too bad but my concern would be the avalanche danger.
