chris Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Did anyone visit Lillooet this holiday weekend? Can some give an observation of ice conditions? Quote
Dru Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 What part of "record breaking warmth" don't you understand? It was +10 C and raining for most of the day yesterday. Quote
Don_Serl Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 ...and the forecast is today 8/2 cloudy, and tues 7/3 showers. finally cools back out a bit for: weds 1/0 rain or snow; thurs: 2/-6 cloudy; and fri: -1/-6 light snow. then warmish and wet again: sat 0/-3 rain or snow; sun 0/-2 freezing rain. not attractive ice climbing temps, but quite an unmitigated disaster (yet) - the Duffey and Marble Canyon are high enough to stay below freezing except over the "hot streak" 3 or 4 days, but the "valley" climbs will be pretty effing wet. pure boredom probably will cause me to drive up at new years to "have a look". i have plenty of space in the truck for spare sets of gloves - i'll need 'em! cheers, don Quote
jstone Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Pure boredom is quite powerfull, I too am probably going to head up, and walk around in the rain. A man can only sit in the pub and drink beer for so long... If any of you want to share a ride, or meet up up there let me know. Quote
Dirte Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 well it's 6 right now... that's good tanning temps... ill bring the tanning oil for the new years party! Quote
Dru Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Don't forget to bring rock pro so you can go cragging at Marble Canyon or Cayoosh Wall when you make the drive up there only to find the ice melted... forecast highs of +5 now right through Saturday Quote
jstone Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Hmmmm.....plan B then, break out the aiders and scotch. Quote
Dirte Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 holy frick... the long range says its gonna stay above freezing until the 10th.... WTF! Looks like its time to go east, south, or north.... anywhere but here! Quote
Dru Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 The Coyote's Penis (2 hour hike, 50m high 5.7 tower) is good alpine training if the ice is melted in Marble canyon. Quote
Dirte Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 The temps are dropping into the Minus' and stay on a trend in those temps starting on the 14th continuing past the 21st. Looks like we might actually get some climbing in. Quote
Dru Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 any forecast more than 5 days in advance is best considered fantasy or hallucination Quote
