gobriango Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 As far as route conditions go, is May or June a better month for the W. Rib ? Quote
joepuryear Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Historically June is a much better month. Summit successes go way up in June, not because of better conditions necessarily but because of warmer temperatures. May can be a tough month for any route on the mountain due to the extreme cold sometimes encountered at altitude. I'd say leave for the mountain around the last week of May, putting you on the route in early to mid-June. Quote
gobriango Posted December 23, 2005 Author Posted December 23, 2005 Perfect, that's exactly what i was planning to do. Thanks Quote
kadyakerbob Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 yes thats great advice, last year we put on the ribb in mid june and with the shitty snow we had bad rock fall through the chicken couliar, and a shitty time getting up the fork. tons of crevasses opened up. but this is obviously going to be a much better snow year.
