genepires Posted December 17, 2005 Share Posted December 17, 2005 while I wouldn't call it a light shoe, my well used and fairly flexible multitraction and grivel newmatic stayed connected on lots of 45 degree terrain. Based on that expereience, I would think that most shoes with a 3/4 shank would work. Most light shoes don't have a 3/4 shank though. You might be stuck with a boot like garmont tower or lasport trango. I have used my flexi crampons on tennies on low angle ground with good success. Nick Posted December 19, 2005 Share Posted December 19, 2005 There are lighter boots, but newmatics work well with my Tecnica Bio Ascend boots (2 pounds per boot). My favorite set up is a really light garmont boot with strap-on light steel Charlet Moser crampons. For a really light set up you may want to abandon the newmatic crampons.
