Blake Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Near the top of Silver Star Mtn. in Clark County is a basalt formation called Sturgeon Rock. Does anyone know of any climbs or potential up there? Quote
BrittEasterly Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 (edited) No but thats in our patrol district so I will have to check it out. Edited December 9, 2005 by BrittEasterly Quote
Blake Posted December 11, 2005 Author Posted December 11, 2005 Ok, anyone want to go explore some of these columns on Sturgeon Rock tomorrow or a different time this week? (I'd be glad to climb at Beacon if nobody's interested in exploratory stuff) -Blake Quote
MATT_B Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 If that is where I think it is, it will be a bit cold and snowy out there. Unless your into that kind of thing. . . Quote
Mr_D Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 (edited) Here are some pics of the area on 11/27/05. Not Sturgeon, but very close and at the same elevation. Should be quite snowy with the snow we received after these photos were taken. I have heard of climbing up there, but know nothing of the grades or quality (or lack of). Blake Posted December 13, 2005 Author Posted December 13, 2005 well, thanks for the pics guys, i guess the exploration will wait, unless some mixed climbing is in order. Too much snow for the rock to be fun, and not enough snow for skiing. Quote
Mr_D Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 This picture was before we had the big snows. I would guess there is probably anothe 30" on the slopes up there now. Bet there is actually some skiing to be had. If so, we want a conditions report...especially on the northfacing aspects. Quote
