I'm back in WA for thanksgiving and want to get out and ski something on Wednesday. Given that I dont know what the snowpack and road situation is, I'm not sure what to do. Does anybody have a recommendation for something, preferrably in the north cascades?

thanks,

-josh

N Cascades is closed. Maybe Cascade River Road would be your best bet. It would be a hump, but busting up and over to Boston Glacier area might be pretty rad. With this inversion, I bet the volcanoes might be fun too.

North slopes seem to have a nasty crust on them (haven't heard of anyone finding powder anywhere lately - I think it rained high up before the high-pressure moved in), so you probably want something that will get some sun to soften.

Given your North Cascades geographic parameter I think I'd suggest taking a whirl at getting up Sibley Creek/Hidden Lake Peak. Don't know the road situation, but I think you could figure on having to pack your skis a ways regardless. I bet you can ski above where the trail leaves the timber, but I also believe ski conditions will be less than orgasmic on any exposure just now.
