I have and use a golite belay jacket. I don't know if it is the same one you are referring to(it's hooded). I find it works great, but only use it in the winter months. I use a moonstone pullover for the summer.

I've got one, and I like it for ice climbing in milder temps (above 15F or so). For colder temps I personally like something warmer. The hood fits fine over my helmet (petzl ecrin roc). The EPIC fabric is great for repelling spindrift and such.

Thanks for the replies, I think I will probably wait and get something warmer for my next belay jacket, if anyone's interested Next Adventure has a couple of the belay parka's on sale for 49 bucks.

For $50 I would run and buy one right away. Just cut the stitches and remove the ridiculous elbow reinforcements.

Mine has performed quite well in all conditions, including very wet ice belays, lots of skiing, and even some rain. It's as warm as any other 18oz synthetic jacket. I'm quite happy with it.

I have the Six Month Night as well and find it overkill for what I do in the Cascades.
