Dru Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 First freeze in Lillooet, it went to 0 overnight. http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/trends_table/pages/wkf_metric_e.html But a high of +8, don't bother driving up yet. Quote
jmace Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Ya I think we can see freezing levels going waaay up by mid week, possibly raining on top of whistler and more than likely putting a stop to Cypress from opening up on Wednesday. Quote
jmace Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 From NOAA current conditions (stronger-than-average easterly winds over the central equatorial Pacific) and recent observed trends (decreasing SST anomalies throughout the central and eastern equatorial Pacific) do not support the development of El Niño. Rather, they support either a continuation of ENSO-neutral conditions or the development of weak La Niña conditions during the next 6-9 months. What are the U.S. impacts of La Niña? La Niña often features drier than normal conditions in the Southwest in late summer through the subsequent winter. Drier than normal conditions also typically occur in the Central Plains in the fall and in the Southeast in the winter. In contrast, the Pacific Northwest is more likely to be wetter than normal in the late fall and early winter with the presence of a well-established La Niña. Additionally, on average La Niña winters are warmer than normal in the Southeast and colder than normal in the Northwest. Quote
Chad_A Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Aw, man, that's great news. Let's hope so! Quote
catbirdseat Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 From what I've heard we won't be getting La Nina. It will be neutral. Quote
Dru Posted November 10, 2005 Author Posted November 10, 2005 jmace is a meteorologist - you are a chemist. hmmm? Quote
catbirdseat Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 jmace is a meteorologist - you are a chemist. hmmm? Certainly, as an ice climber, you'd rather believe in La Nina. Time will tell, won't it? Quote
Dru Posted November 10, 2005 Author Posted November 10, 2005 I predict I will get in 20 days of ice climbing this winter. Quote
jmace Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I take no resposibilty for that info I just cut and pasted from a discussion that gets sent to me when they issue them. So far we are average to just above average rainfall here in Vancouver, for the last 2.5 months. Quote
riptorn Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 According to some lillooet old timers whenever there has been a summer with lots of wasps the following winter is usually very cold, this summer was awful for wasps so heres hoping theres something to it. Quote
Dru Posted November 16, 2005 Author Posted November 16, 2005 Clinton is recording some nice lows (-6) and Clinton is the most accurate station for forecasting Marble Canyon temperatures.... who is going to waste a weekend driving over to check it out? Or maybe Oregon Jack? Quote
