Hi,

I'd like to have some feedback from those of you who have used the Edelweiss Stratos double rope (60m 9mm) ?

- abrasion resistance

- stiffness when it get old

- weight,

- ease of handling when taking and feeding

What you like and don't like compared to Mammut Universe double Rope , or Beal Cobra II ??

Thnaks

or Sterling 8.4 mm marathon double rope (i.e. really called 1/2 ropes by the manufacturers)

Have two and like them, kind of slipery for catching falls and rapping when new, but me thinks this is true for all treated small diameter half ropes.

I have a pair of these and I am pleased with them. Edelweiss is a good rope company and the ropes may not be the lightest available but they have been quite durable and I don't mind the stiffer hand that they and most Edelweiss ropes possess. Come on... Who has tried all three of the ropes to compare them. I'd go with the best deal thats my advise... rockband.gif

i have used the stratos doubles a bunch. they are very durable. they do get stiffer with age, but with thin ropes, this is much less of a problem than with single ropes. even brand new, they were stiffer and had a less smooth hand than many ropes.there are lighter half ropes out there, but the stratos are pretty confidence inspiring.

For smaller diameter ropes, I prefer a slightly stiffer hand because i think it means they tend to whip around things a little less when you pull a rappel - so they get stuck a little less. I had no complaints about the stratos failing any "smoothness" test, and in fact I have owned several pairs over the years and the old ones are only slightly stiffer than the new.

Stratos ropes are tough.
