Dru Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 No One Arrested After Water Spraying Incident Sep, 19 2005 - 12:00 PM Police say no one will be arrested after a dispute in Burnaby ended with a 65 year old getting blasted by a water hose. Late last week, a 39 year old was walking her dog when it stopped to "leave its mark" on a tree. The neighbor who owns the tree, a 65 year old woman, came running out and whacked the dog owner on the back. Not wanting a confrontation, the dog owner kept on walking. But the angered senior followed her home. At that point, the young woman turned on her water hose and sprayed the 65 year old. Police were called in to calm everybody down. If this was the US, someone would have been shot. Quote
olyclimber Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Or it would have escalated to water balloon fight or a full on crack the hydrants hydrofest. Quote

JoshK Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Clearly if everybody had been armed with a gun, there would have been a mutual fear of being shot and the entire squirting incident could have been avoided altogether. Would we really want to live in a country where we can own guns to protect us from a bothered citizen with a water hose? It is clear to me that lawlessness of this sort combined with a relatively un-armed populace is going to lead to Canada's swift downfall. If I were you, Dru, I would get to work forming a CRA (Canadian Rifle Association) if there isn't already something like that up there. Quote
catbirdseat Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 This is where Sisu Suomi, Cavey, and Trask would have, in former times launched into a spirited defense on the freedom to bear arms. Quote
Camilo Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 If this happened in Portland, the old woman would've laced some steaks with paraquat and placed them in the nearby public park. Quote
murraysovereign Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 And there's another difference between the US and Canada - up here we use strychnine instead of paraquat. Quote
Dru Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 What? I just use antifreeze. Pets love it! Quote
ashw_justin Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Well even if there were no freedom-echoing gunfire, someone certainly would have been sued. God bless 'America'. Quote
