Yes, yes.

Take a couple of 2x10's and mix sand with epoxy and slather one side of each withthe mixture.

You can make it adjustible with allthread, fender washers and locknuts.

Hinge the whole affair on the bottom, and you can also adjust the angle.

Edit for monies received. tongue.gif

I've built a few cracks in climbing walls with 6' lengths of 4x6 ripped along a symmetrical pattern with a dull sawzall. The sawzall follows the grain somewhat and the angle changes a bit. Flip one side top for bottom and you'll have a variable width crack. One side (of the pair) is usually flaring and the other side bomber. Block it at top and bottom, screw thru the plywood and rout it out. If you make it hand width you may want to cover the back to prevent reaching thru and crimping the back.

Saw a cool one of these in some climbing rag. The guy had built it so it was horizontal instead of vertical to mimic crack climbing under a roof. The frame was close enough to the ground that he was never more than a couple of feet off the ground. Of course he was also capable of climbing pure cracks under horizontal roofs tongue.gif

Take a look at these links - might be helpful:

I have a double crack in my garage that's kind of a combo of ideas - they're both adjustable in width but I can't change the angle - it's strictly vertical due to some structural constraints (now, if I could just get the wife to give up her half of the garage...).
