no. unless you approach predawn or hike out before a bootpack.

No. Even if you approach predawn or whatever. You can rap or scramble without hitting ice until it is so low angle it will never matter.

Maybe take an axe for the way off, but we didnt' use our crampns two weeks ago coming off after Serpentine. The snow is not that steep on the back, and the snow at the base as manageable ini boots.
