Billygoat Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Gonna be down there first week (5th thru 8th) of July sans partner. Which would be the better camping spot to hook up with folks and generally hang; Grasslands or The Bivi? Thanks Goat Quote
Alpinfox Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Grasslands is free and lots of people hangin' there. You could find a partner at either place pretty easy me thinks. If you need good driving directions to the grasslands, let me know. I've got em written up and could email them to you. Quote
Billygoat Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Thanks man! I found the necessary mapage via google btw: you want me to keep an eye out for your hat while I am down there? Quote
Billygoat Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 YIKES! Tell me; does that contain a rocket deployed chute in case you take that terminal whipper your mom warned you about....? And is it a Federal offense to carry that thing over State lines Quote
Billygoat Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Does anyone camp at the Bivi area? It's only $4 and you get a shower Or is it No fires, no naked juggling, no bottles.... Quote
minx Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Does anyone camp at the Bivi area? It's only $4 and you get a shower Or is it No fires, no naked juggling, no bottles.... naked juggling has banned after 10pm Quote
Billygoat Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Fuck Me! In the PNW it doesn't even get dark enough to bust out the fire batons until 11 Quote
thelawgoddess Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 i "camped" at the bivi area the first time i drove to smith. it was dark, i'd never been there before (didn't know about the grasslands), and i was tired. i dragged my sleeping bag and pad somewhere there was an open spot, slept, got up early and got outta there. almost didn't make it though - they definitely make the rounds. (after that, i've pretty much always gone to the grasslands.) i've used the showers at the "real" campground a number of times and never got hassled. if you've never been to smith and drive in a night, it's a pretty cool experience to wake up and see it for the first time as your own morning fog wears off ... Billygoat Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Yeah, it will be my first time and I am looking forward to it Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 I usually stay at the Grasslands nowadays, but like TLG says, the view from the bivi area in the morning can't be beat. For $4, it's a pretty good deal, considering the running water & showers, etc. Quote
korntera Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I always camp at the grasslands. If you want to meet up with people either A make a huge freaking fire, or B go to a huge freaking fire. Everytime i have a fire over 3 feet tall people come walking over like zombies pulling out food and beers and they start talking. And if you want a shower, its only $2 if you didn't camp at the biv.
