jshamster Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 DCramer or anyone else, any useful beta for Sonic Reducer @ Index? Does it need extensive cleaning? Are the bolts all old & scary, or ok? I want to start working on this soon, and will try ground up if bolts will take many falls. If not, then will go for TR rehearsal until doable or I get frustrated go home. Does anyone ever climb this route? Thanks for any info. Jimbo Quote
bigwalling Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 i replaced the first bolt on it yesterday. They are now all 3/8s. I used the orginal hole but it sorta cratered, that said it should be totally bomber. A short scrub would be good, as it is sorta dirty. The bolts in the crux are all pretty close too. Quote
jshamster Posted May 1, 2005 Author Posted May 1, 2005 (edited) Cool. Thanks for the word, and the bolt replacement! Any other input is appreciated. Edited May 1, 2005 by jshamster Quote
backcountrydog Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 why did you "sorta crater"? did you not check the depth of the hole compared to the length of the bolt or what? all holes should be drilled deeper than the length of the bolt. Quote
crazyjizzy Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 Dear Dog, That was sort of a paternalistic little comment of yours. Jake is well aware of the physical law of nature called "depth". I am sure the little cratering had to do with bolt removal etc. What ever the cause, Jake undoubtly did a craftsman like job. So STFU. Quote
bigwalling Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 when the old bolt was removed it cratered the hole a bit. The depth is not an issue at all. Quote
backcountrydog Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 dear crazyjz suck balls. you can read into it whatever you want. and if someone who has been climbing a year or 2 and is placing bolts cant handle an inquirey about what went wrong (not that 'sorta cratered" is wrong, just less than ideal) then he can suck balls with you...although jake had the head to just respond to the question without your paternal read on it. slaphappy Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 ... and to avoid "sorta cratering" epoxy old hole and drill a new one aprox 2" away, much better results... just my $1.05 Quote
