Ratboy Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 (edited) Anyone catch Al Gore's speech on CSPAN yesterday? Wow! If he'd given speeches like that, he'd have won the election hands down IMO. archenemy Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I agree, good speech. but a little scary sometimes. this quote especially: I went before the American people to reaffirm the bedrock principle that we are a nation of laws, not men. Laws are here to serve us, not the other way around. Quote
Ratboy Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 I don't agree with everything he said, but I do agree with a lot of it, particuarly about the Senate, and I was very impressed by the way he gave the speech. Much better than the cardboard caricature he was on the campaign trail and in the debates. Quote

slothrop Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I'd rather live under laws created by a deliberative process than under the unfettered rule of powerful men. Quote
archenemy Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Couldn't agree more. Especially when we are part of the deliberative process. Quote

Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I'd rather live under laws created by a deliberative process than under the unfettered rule of powerful men. Ah, yes. So the question is, do we overthrow the bastards, or just leave and let this mess self-destruct? Quote
archenemy Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 don't forget the Mystery of German exploding toads thread here. Coincidence? Quote
mec Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I'd rather live under laws created by a deliberative process than under the unfettered rule of powerful men. Ah, yes. So the question is, do we overthrow the bastards, or just leave and let this mess self-destruct? Self-destruction will probably be where it all ends up. Most of the public is too busy being lazy and overweight, that no one has the energy to overthrow anyone. Quote
archenemy Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Speak for yourself. I have enough energy to.... Wait, my fingers are tired of typing. I'll get back to you later. Quote
