catbirdseat Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 I'm interested in a super comfy harness for use in teaching or rescue practice, where I am hanging for long periods. I don't care how much it weighs. It doesn't need lots of clever features and affordable would be nice. What would you recommend? Quote
Dru Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Looks like a girdle  Just get a belay seat and sit in that. way more comfy than sitting in a harness for hours. Quote
catbirdseat Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 Reminds me of the expression, "be careful what you wish for, you might just get it". Quote
catbirdseat Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 First you said it looks like a diaper. Now you say it looks like a girdle. The good old "invisible edit" trick. Quote
mattp Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 If you can, I'd go to the store and try them on. Ask them to let you actually hang in the thing and see how it feels. Â Padding and wide webbing are probably going to be big plusses for you but I think you'll find that the actual "fit" or the length of the "rise" or other factors that pertain to just how the harness fits your body are going to be quite significant. You also get to check which ones have some clumsy buckle or something. Quote
catbirdseat Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 The Misty Mountain has all the bells and whistles. Quote
darstog Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 I've spent a silly amount of hours hanging in the Yates Big Wall. I can only say good things. Easily the most comfortable harness I've tried on. When we first got ours, the joke was that they're more like a diaper than a harness. They're so soft and huggy. Knowing what a diaper feels like is cool, right? Guys? Quote
Matt_Anderson Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 I also like the Misty mountain. I'm sure that the Yates is more comfy (it's wider), but the double rows of loops are the biggest plus - I'll never go back to harnesses with just one row. Quote
