kioti Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Does anyone have experience with the crowds following the Moab Jeep Safari? I'll be arriving in Moab a few days after the official end of the event, just wondering if I'll have to fight off skeezy jeep sluts. Maybe I won't fight them off though. Quote
ken4ord Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 If you are mountain biking yes it might be a little crowded and dusty because of them. Though you can definitely avoid them by riding trail they are not allowed on. As for climbing I don't it will be an issue, you just might get a lot of gapers. Quote
texplorer Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Gas prices will drop 10 cents and pretty much the rednecks head back to their local wallers to ruin their own parts of the world. Shouldn't be an issue. Quote
chalkball Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 We were out there a few years ago to bike - didn't run into them much on rides, just in the campgrounds and on the roads. Quote
Jim Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 I was down there last year at that time, unfortunately the only time my wife, a teacher, had off. Luckily it did rain a bit, otherwise there is a huge dust cloud over Moab. I was staying out at Castle Valley and away from the fray. The amount and variety of off road vehicles was stunning when we went near town or near the slickrock area. Bands of vehicles would line up along the roads in and around Moab before taking off for the day. I must say they did some very impressive driving on steep rock that I would never consider, and I do a fair amount for work. Best thing you can do is don't go during that week. Second might be to concentrate on areas away from the most popular, wide jeep trails. And third would be to go down to the needles district of Arches. Good luck. Quote
