wbk Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 (edited) Hidden Lake Peak - questions/thoughts- Idea is to hike/climb Hidden Lake peak this weekend (maybe staying in the cabin over night). Anybody have any idea if anyone’s been up there recently and what the conditions might be link? The avi report seems like this would be pretty safe (moderate above 6000-7000 feet, low below) but the conditions have been perfect for good snow consolidation. I’m no expert so I’d like to hear others’ advice/thoughts. Thanks! Edited January 28, 2005 by To_The_Top Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 The magic question is: How far up the road can you drive? My guess is you won't be able to make it to the trailhead, but I don't know how far you'll be able to get. Quote
klenke Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 (edited) Las Vegas opened with 3 to 1 odds the road will not be open all the way to the trailhead. Too many shady trees cited in the initial calculation. Edited January 28, 2005 by To_The_Top Quote
Skeezix Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 It'd be worth it to spend the night up in the hut. Quote
Zoran Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 (edited) I like your idea to spend night there. I am from BC and we have several small cabins/shelters/huts around the Vancouver. Do you have more huts/shelters like this opened during the winter/spring? This shelter is beautiful. Please give me some ideas for similar overnight trips. wbk Posted February 23, 2005 Author Posted February 23, 2005 Does anyone have an update on the current status on Forest Road 1540 to the Hidden Lake trailhead? Curious if it can be reached with a normal car? If not, how far of a hike is it to the trailhead? All i can find out from the Forest Road conditions website is: Open - Partial - Rough sections. Slumping on road - use caution. Thanks Quote
AllYouCanEat Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 I was up there the weekend before last and was able to drive to the end of the road. I don't think that you can now since it has snowed a bit. At worst you have several miles of road ~1-2hrs extra timewise. Bring skis and go have fun. Quote
